Default Tailgate Light Problem

Hi, was hoping somebody may have some expertise here. I have an 07 Q7, rear tailgate was not closing all the way. I replaced the strike plate (really only needed a new spring) and all is well with that, hatch closes fine. However, the rear lights have remained in the bumper position, as if the tailgate is open. I figured the sensor may be faulty, so I replaced that. Still having the same problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do a VAG scan and look for these control modules as a open circuit.

Thanks, so I should have mentioned the scan. Got 03073, implausible signal to the rear lid closed sensor 1, which is g525. The 2 sensors are actually one piece, g525 and 526. I replaced the part, cleared the codes and scanned again. No codes, but the taillights remain in the bumper.

Position of Fuses Fuse Carrier ST3 (red) in the luggage area. you have two 30A fuses in 7 and 8 slot that runs your control modules. check to see if they are any good.
