Default Fitting a US mmi on a Canadian car

Hello All,
New to this. I'm hoping someone will take the time to assist.
I bought a 2016 rs7 off the lot after a test drive. Wonderful car. My problem is that I learned that in the US similar cars can get google maps and street view among other things. Now that I know I want it.
I was able to connect the wifi using my iPhone hotspot and downloaded an app that has limited usefulness, find my car, and other rudimentary functions but no google.
I asked the dealer if they can get me a new US mmi that can take a phone chip with a T-Mobile chip and I'll pay for it. They are looking into it.
My question, anyone from Canada with similar vehicle gets Google or better yet CarPlay?
Thanks in advance

I did this on my dad's q5, which is a Canadian vehicle.

Use the site search feature and you'll find a diy or pm me.

A simple search would have yielded the following:

Snarky? All I wrote is what a simple search would have yielded. Considering the stuff I read on forums that's just being straight with you... Perhaps you shouldn't read so much into internet tonality.

Thank you raj99. Very helpful.
To be honest, I too could not reach the postings you were referring to.
Now my cay does have wifi from my iPhone. After I turn the car on my iPhone turns the hotspot on and I have wifi. So do I still need to fix another phone, or is it just a matter of activating the hidden menu and choosing the navigation?
As for the hidden menu, I got which buttons to press but it doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe I need to activate it with the (VRC? Forgot what it's called) that fits into the diagnostic port?

Hi nabob,

All these cars can get hotspot capabilities via BT connections, however you will need to do more than that to be able to setup Google maps and such. Read the instructions in the DIY thoroughly, since you will need a router, which can then leverage your mobile phone. Also, as step one, you will need to gain access to the hidden menu which can be done via a VCDS Rosstech cable. There's a lot of folks on the forum, myself included, who frequently help out local folks with enabling features and such via the cable we purchased for over $300. Post where you are located and perhaps someone nearby can help you out.

Thanks again raj99. I'm waiting on the tech guy at my dealer. he's a very knowledgeable guy and will bend the rules if need be. he also reads this thread.
if nothing comes out from there, I will be doing exactly what you prescribed.
