Default Advice - Negotiating a price on a 2014 S4 CPO

Hi, I'm looking for advice of how much i should pay for a 2014 S4

The Car-
2014 S4, 30k miles, MSRP was 56k. manual tranny.

the dealership is asking for $40k (price on their website). Car has been sitting on the lot for over 3 months.

so with that in mind, how much do you think i should offer?

according to my research, S4 usually have a 55% residual from a lease. therefore the car would be at 56*0.55=30$ + the CPO cost ($2000).

so therefore I'm guessing the dealer's cost is 32-33k

Start at $35k and negotiate from there. BTW, don't let a great cat that you want get away for a couple of thousand dollars. These cars are not plentiful (especially the 6MTs ) and are in demand. AWD cars are also more desirable in the winter in cold weather areas.

audicare? color? geographic location?

Existing Audicare could save you upto a grand

Color: dealers tend to value black, white, silvers more than your red or blue cars. ofcourse you don't have to agree with them, you'd likely have a few dollars more if you dont.

Geographic locations matter more than most people think sometimes. when i was looking for mine, entire east coast had 17 cars with MT+tech package. granted not a lot of people buy MT's at this price range, but for the few that do, it really matters. having said that, if it has been sitting on the lot for 3 months already, you might be able to go in with $36k in the next couple of days before year-end, and walk away with it.

End of year will give you a great bargaining advantage
