Am I Crazy?
Considering buying a 13 S4 sight unseen from an audi dealer 1000 miles away. Am I crazy? The car is well under the factory warranty and further it's a CPO vehicle, so my thinking is how could I go wrong here. So again, am I completely crazy or not? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Not at all....I just did the same thing but "just" 445 miles away at Audi Cary, NC. My transaction was seamless and the car was exactly as described....perfect.
There were lots of emails and text messages, but it was all worth it in the end.

I'd get an independent PPI. Dealers have wide discretion in what they certify and different dealers have different standards. CPO does not guarantee, for example, the car has never been in an accident. There are also plenty of examples of guys that modify cars and return them to stock before trade in. An independent PPI should relieve your mind a bit and avoid any unlikely (but possible) disputes with a dealer 1,000 miles away.
I trust the Car Fax shows no accidents or other issues but Car Fax is not always going to capture everything.

You should be fine with CPO and warranty. I would want a picture of every body panel and all aspects of interior, trunk, engine comp and ESPECIALLY the undercarriage of the car. And buy with the dealer certifying any and all defects found on the car. That way if there is a problem , not delineated, you can go back against the seller for rectification.

I think with the CPO you should be fine. I was able to hold the vehicle with a refundable deposit on a credit card until I was able to see it in person and drive it. I wouldn't see why the dealer wouldn't allow you to do the same thing. They shouldn't make you pay without driving it first.

OP, this thread is coming up on 2 weeks old now... what did you decide to do?

No. I don't think any dealer would do that. My dealer held the car for me while I was able to arrange and drive over to see it in person. I didn't want to make th commute and find that they had already sold it. If I didn't like the car for whatever reason and decided not to purchase, my deposit would be refunded.

I guess it doesn't matter as it has been two weeks so he either did it or didn't.

I bought my S4 from Miami and i'm in Kansas City. They had enough pictures and I had a guy go out and look at it for me. I would just research the dealer and see if they are respectable enough. My dealer had an out of state department because they do that kind of stuff so much. Turned out great.
