Default Control arms/bushings at 65K miles?

My 2011 S4 has about 65K on the odometer. Recently, it began to show the signs of failing control arms and bushings in the front. It mostly shows in creaking and clunking in low-speed and high-angle maneuvers like backing into the garage. Is this normal for a B8 to develop this kind of a problem by 65K? The car is not modified and it is not abused either.

Please keep us posted. I have 95k on my '13 and no issues yet (crossing fingers and knocking on wood).

I took mine into the shop yesterday. Should be getting back today. Estimated cost is about $750, including the alignment.

Thanks for the update. Did you notice abnormal wear on your tires? "Cupping" on the tread blocks?

Nope, I have a relatively new set and it was too soon to notice any alignment problems. What I did notice was loud clanking when I back into the garage while having the front wheels turned at a large angle. I ended up getting both lower control arms replaced and then the alignment done. Control arms were $155 a piece, plus, about $400 in labor (including the alignment).

Just got told my upper control arms on the front are shot. I am at 54k. Normal driver no mods. Was the quote from a local repair shop or dealer? Also what brand did you go for the replacement part?
