Default Emissions recall letter from Audi

I received a letter from Audi re: the Malfunction Indicator Light coming on and they recommended bringing it in for updating the ECM. Anyone else receive this letter and if so, planning to bring it in?

I got the same letter. Sounds sounds very strange: Audi claims that the problem is that a diagnostic threshold for the MIL light is too tight and the light may come in even if everything is OK. On the other hand, the latter also says that for CA owners, the owners will need to provide a proof of correctness certificate to renew registration. For an overly-eager indicator light, this does not make sense.

I wonder if the ECM reprogramming is more drastic that Audi replies, and that it affects performance or fuel economy.

I am interesting in learning more about this recall.
