Or anything else you would like to share, like gas mileage? Or anything else I drove loaner d mode for shift points, I was amazed how fast car was. I did notice vibration in door when radio was on, and not at bass set at high level

[QUOTE=jyges;24598136]does it make sense to order car with it other than slight increase in fuel economy. My concerns are possible problems in future. I keep cars for 10-14 years.[/

I bought my 11 with dsg for the same reason but I am on the 5-6 year plan. While I like it I think if you are planning to keep the car for a couple of hundred thousand miles the MT might be the way to go.
Although I technically haven't had any dealer detected issues there are some instances where it acts up. Nothing bad but not normal. I know they are proven but a mt has been around a lot longer and is a little less complex.

Thanks! I took that near my house the morning after picking up the car. There are a couple more views in my garage album.

I drive 23 miles each way to work a mix of highway and city, but almost always in heavy traffic. The car averages around 21.5MPG for commuting. Recently I got to drive an entire tank going 75-80 with cruise control and it got 28.7MPG. I drove it on a windy twisty mountain road near me one night with three passengers and I got 4MPG. Yes you read that right. Four. It sure was fun though.

There are buzzes and rattles. Its disappointing that Audi can't figure out how to make a $60,000 car which doesn't rattle. I took it into the dealership for door rattles and they fixed it for about a month.

For what its worth I have a 2010 DSG with 98000 miles, had a mechitronics failure at 70000 that cost me $2100. Other than that its been hassle free. It still can get a little clunky going from second to first when I am caught in persistent stop and go traffic. I think I read on one of the forums that the 2010/11 were known for mechitronics issue but they have debugged it now.

The issue was likely that it was shifting too fast, not backing off when it got hot, and shifting at an RPM higher than 6000. The new software revisions are particularly limiting, from what I read.

the mpg i'm seeing on mine is right at 24. I have a 32 mile commute that is half highway and half windy back roads. I usually putt along the highway at 70-75mph but then romp on it during the twisty back roads bit.

I'm on my second S4 a 2013. My first was a 2010. I have the Stronic again as my wife and son also drive the car. If sharing a car it is not wise to share a manual. My first S4 did have some tranny issues I sold the car early as a result. My first S4 was modified so any tranny issues would have been denied therefore the sale. This S4 has been flawless however I may trade it for the new S3. Still thinking about that..............Anyway.........
