Default if the pump leak is all your worried about ill sell you mine...

...Not the ideal car if you dont have money and time. If the cost isnt a problem for you the time it spends down while waiting for parts from halfway across the country will be. Im selling mine if you want to look at it

Default It depends. If the car is being driven and you turn it off it still comes back on however,

If the car is running, stationary, w ebrake on then you turn off ESP, step on the brake pedal once, then release the ebrake and it should stay off. Keep in mind that if you do this you assume the risk of injury, damage to person, and property that may be the result of disabling this feature.

Default Has the shutdown process you describe eliminated the ESP entirely? Because ...

I've shut it down and had it go into "panic" mode even when it's supposed to be off(dash light declares it to be off).
It only occurs under hard trail braking situations (turn 2, Laguna as an example) where the car seems to want to hold down the brakes to force an understeer when it perceives the onset of brake induced oversteer (mid corner rotation).
I've actually had the pedal move away from my foot, very disconcerting.
It is definitely the ESP or ABS because I unplugged the module and the "ghost" went away.
Anyways, if there's an easy way to override it that would be awesome because I kind of like having ABS.

Default I've tracked my car many times with the ESP off and never had it come back on to intervene.

Had the car in a 90 degree drift at an auto-x, ESP did nothing.

Default Well, I can get it to shut off completely when I do what I mentioned above. Its easy to check as

I live in snow country. After disabling ESP I can get into severe understeer/oversteer conditions which esp normally won't allow. I sometimes remember to shut if off the way I described above when at the track. Occasionally though, if I shut it off while the car is in motion, it doesn't disable it completely and I can feel it kicking in at the track.

Default Are you running APR stg3 software? There was a rumor that it eliminates the issue.

Also the whole left foot brake, throttle cut issue as well.
Again though, it's only happened to me on hard braking zones (60-70mph+ speed differentials) during trail braking.
And only disappeared when the module was disconnected.
It's freakish when a car is braking and you've already moved your foot to the dead pedal.
I'd love to find a way to have it not happen.

Default Mee too. Mine comes back on under braking.

Couldn't you replace your 2001.5 ABS module with a 2001 module instead of ripping it out? Just a guess.
