Default Access to Bentley Paper Manuals: Timing Belt Replacement

I found the following quote on the c5 A6 forum:

"Timing belts fail all over the map. Some go 60k miles, others go 200k miles. That is why audi has officially recommended that the belts be changed at 60k. it is priunted in black and white int he Bentley paper manual, over-riding the maintenance table."

Does anyone have access to Bentley paper manuals showing that Audi now recommends changing the belts at 60k? It would be really useful for me as mine just went at 61,887 miles, and I can't find another source on the internet. Thx.

This is probably a reference to a maintenance update. Just curious, why do you need written proof? Is it a warranty thing?

A good rule of thumb is to change them between 60 - 90k.

My timing belt failed at 61,887 miles, even though I had my 80k-mile service done at 59k miles and my original maintenance guide first mentions the timing belt at 105k miles. Failure led to belt values and damaged heads with initial estimate north of $8k. Would be valuable to have a document saying Audi now officially recommends that belts be replaced at 60k (which didn't happen) for potential claim and/or legal purposes...

I also think Bentley Publishers has the recommendations on their website? At least they used to.

Bentley website shows 105,000 miles (the "****" for the 2.7L turbo):

I'll see if I can find the maintenance bulletin in the electronic version of the Bentley manual. The TB is a strange animal. There are people on here who claim to have run on the factory belt far past the 100k range others have had brand new belts fail within 10k miles.

I've changed it 3 times in last 5000 miles, but not because there was anything wrong with it - I just keep pulling the motor and figure, why the hell not if I have it out.

More often it is the tensioner that fails

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. The bolt on the tensioner element simply broke less than 50 miles after leaving the shop.
