Default ambient temp gauge on cluster is acting wierd

after the car warms up the temp reads accurate, but in the morning... its always at a very low temp.

soon as the car warms up, the temp reading rapidly increases to normal temp. all of my other guages seem to be accurate.

is this a coolant temp sensor thing?
