Default <tracking> My instructor at VIR suggested I consider brake ducts as a future track mod...

He had done it to his E36 M3. I'm curious about the application in our cars.

Under the car might be cool. You could mod the bellypan similar to the existing ducts in it.

Default I remember Vonk saying that he didn't use the IC shrouds. It would be interesting to see some

controlled tests with and without the shrouds to see just how much affect they have.

What about air from behind (after) the IC's? It will be warmer, but still cooler than the brakes.

Default I purchased some high temp duct hose and NACA ducts to put together a cooling kit...

on a VW belly pan, but decided to wait until I have some more space where the RS4 intercoolers are mounted. ; )! The intercooler inlets on the RS4 bumper will be perfect for routing air to the brakes. BTW...the high temp hose is pricey$.

Default what about for verticle FMIC guys, could they use the stock locations for the sidemounts

to draw air from? Seems easy enough

That's a good point. FMIC guys could get some serious brake cooling from the SMIC ducts.

Default that was actually my favorite idea

make a "reverse" duct on the back of the intercooler that would neck down into a 2.5 or 3 inch hose... question is, would there be enough pressure to support adequate cooling of the brakes? Maybe a combination of lower NACA ducts and a modified rear intercooler duct? Use a simple 2 into 1 conduit which would feed the spindle-mount... All of these parts are very commonly found in circle track catalogs and stores.

We shall see... I won't have time to play with this until late summer.

Default FWIW, it's an easy mod on the E36 M3. I think the hoses may even be there from the factory.

They just need to pull off the inlet covers, I think. He may have been assuming that it was equally easy in an S4, which it's not, unfortunately.
