Default thanks, some follow up responses... btw, only 4500 miles on the oil

1) I will post on bobtheoilguy to see what they say
2) I live downtown and don't drive the car much, most driving is very short trips between home and stores, put only 5K miles in a year.
3) I will ask about moisture in additive
4) I only used Lubo Moly Jectron injector cleaner which were recommended, could that explain anything?

So, in general, what's the verdict? I have changed to Elf 5W40 now, apart from different oil, does it show any engine issue at all?

Thanks

Default The absence of white smoke will help you rule-out the likelihood of a head gasket problem.

Since they have the make-up oil amount wrong, then it's possible that the analysis is flawed (they goofed my last analysis, so it does happen). I wonder if they will retest it for free?

To be honest, one sample isn't really enough to set a trend. Don't worry too much about it. I think you should just change your oil/filter and consider this report a baseline only (and a rather dubious one at that).

Default Thanks, I did this right before oil change, so it's all covered. and I think that 7qrt is my fault..

thought they wanted to know how much oil in total in the car... is that gonna affect the analysis?

"most driving is very short trips"....short trips are *murder* on oil and motors.

Default some more opinion for what it's worth..

like PBR said, one sample is not enough to set a trend. the point of UOA (used oil analysis), is not so much to get an immediate reading, but to set a trend to recognize out of the norm over time. it would show severe issues however.

in regards to FI cleaners, i have read that an oil change is recommended shortly after usage. i guess it mixes with the oil and can cause higher wear rates. this could explain partially the higher #s.

another thing to consider is you need to know the #s from the virgin oil. some oil formulas start with somewhat higher #s.

another point, some oils work better with certain engines. this reading could just mean that this oil was not rite for the engine.

as suggested, get another reading in 5000mi with the new oil.
