!!!CHIPPING REVISITED!!! MUST READ!!!
Yes, we've beaten this to death...but ignorance annoys me. I made a post on the chip debate a couple of days ago initiated by BOXTERPRO that was answered by Tom Barber who personally insulted me and told me that I have no sense of responsibility. Please read my post to him and tell me what you think. Thanks
As of Fri, Apr 28 at 2;45, it was on page 4 toward the top of the page with the original post entitled "S4 turbo problems."
The specific post to which I am referring is entitled "So how long have you been mature enough to assume responsibility for your own actions."
Thanks again, guys.

Insulted??
First, not sure why you would feel insulted by Tom's comments. Lack of integrity can often be a good thing.
Second, if you're insulted by someone posting on a forum where it's all basically anonymous, then I feel sorry for you.
Third, people in this country are offended far too easily.

Who's insulting who? Didn't you question Tom Barbers integrity first? ...
Didn't you question Tom Barbers integrity first by implying that the only reason he was giving information was because he worked for Audi? ("So how long do you think Tom Barber has worked for Audi? - S4play 2000-04-27 13:36:40")
I think he was just trying to give his opinion. We need to hear all of the sides to make an informed decision on whether to chip. I don't think it really needs to get personal.

Sorry man, but you have some serious issues.
You think you're entitled to Audi warranty service on something that Audi didn't sell. You bought an S4 with 250hp. Audi will warranty the engine, turbos, exhaust, clutch, tranny, half-shafts and CV joints on what they sold you. When you bump it to 300 hp...or go further to a Stage III, you're somewhere that Audi wasn't willing to go (seriously...if the car could be *reliably* chipped to 300hp, with no chance of ill effects on the car, don't you think they could've at least have made the Euro and US cars even at 265hp?). You claim that when purchasing your car, you *paid* for the right to modify your car AND retain 100% of your warranty...no matter what goes wrong with your car? And that Audi shouldn't be allowed to know how you've modified your car? That's ridiculous. So now I suppose you want a mediation board to determine if your modification could have caused something to fail (instead of Audi doing this). Should they be allowed to know if you chipped?
Audi isn't alone here. All manufacturers draw the line at warranty coverage somewhere...maybe with the higher prices BMW charges, they're willing to extend warranty coverage for those that modify. Or maybe they have some modifications that they have evaluated and have a level of confidence in. I heard that Porsche is denying claims on the 996 on cars that have damaged engines due to mounting racing slicks. Apparently the G forces generated are causing oil starvation. Are Porsches high performance vehicles? I'd say so. Do they offer warranty coverage when people modify them to achieve higher levels of performance? Not always...
Does the M3 retain its warranty on turbocharged M3s? How about for those people who over-revved theirs M3s at the track (and bent valves, etc)?<p>- Josh

That Tom Barber dude has a problem. Insulting people seems to be a hobby for him.
