Default Driver and passenger airbag delete detailed...

My fancy-shmancy Status Ring GT seats don't have airbags so I wanted to get rid of the airbag light and hopefully retain the functionality of the rest of the system. I couldn't find 5 ohm resistors locally at Radio Shack or any of the local electronic or stereo repair shops, so I ordered these $.35 resistors from Parts Express.

Pictured with electric and airbag harness.

I unplugged the battery for safety's sake. It was not necessary. (I know this because I took the resistors off to recreate the DTC's and document the procedure-- without disconnecting the battery.)

<img src="http://alholland.us/AW/airbag_del3.jpg">

Bent the leads to roughly fit the airbag harness... there's just enough wire.

Tape it up to keep it secure...

...and this:

Turns to this:

If anyone is looking closely, he'll notice that the harness wires are green/white in the first and last harness/resistor pic's and blue/white in the pictures with my beautifully manicured, scar-free fingers. The green/white was the driver's side, blue/white the passenger's..

Default I understand that the airbag system does not work if the airbag light is on.

My new front seats don't have airbags, thus you need to trick the system into thinking they're there...

Default i used 2 10ohm 1/8wt resistors in parallel from radio shack, much smaller than the ceramic

been airbag code free for over 3 years now no problems.
