I look forward to posts about the earlier S4s.
I hope people don't get discouraged from posting info/questions about earlier S4s. These cars are still great automobiles and should be discussed hear along with the bi-turbo S4.

UrS4...
this has become accepted practice on both the quattro List and the S-Cars Online Discussion Group. It really makes things much easier.
As an owner and proponent of the original S4, I would love to see more discussion on that model, just because I think most org.ers still don't know that much about it.

Love them, almost bought one twice - but . . .
I don't fit in them and they cost too much for the performance (my 5ktq is at least as fast as an UrS4 and a lot cheaper, in fact I might be faster than a chipped UrS4). A 91 200q 20vt would be the ticket, despite having the old style climate control.
If you could find decent ones for less than $20K, then I would consider them again.

Nope...
There is no way that your 5ktq is as fast as an UrS4, unless you have made modifications. Here are the stock numbers for the UrS4:
HP:227
Torque:258lb/ft (same as new S4, BTW)
0-60:6.1 sec. (from C&D)
Top Speed (after you unplug the gov.):152mph (from Audi)
Needless to say, a chipped S4 (which takes the horsepower to 270-280) will get to 60 in the 5's. That is before any serious modifications. 330+hp is not uncommon in the S4 world.
The '91 200tq comes close to the stock numbers, but not quite:
(all from C&D)
HP:217
Torque:227lb/ft
0-60:6.8 sec.
Also, I just picked up my S4 for $16,500. It being "decent" or not, is open to debate. Check the link to decide for yourself.
I hope this didn't come off as being too obnoxious. I don't typically get into the "my car is faster than your car" thing. It's nothing personal; facts are just facts.
Love a good debate,

Oh, I have made a few modifications
Sorry, didn't mean to get competitive. My point is that my 5ktq was as fast as a stock UrS4, and it will be as fast as a chipped UrS4 soon. It doesn't have the wide torque band of the UrS4, but it weighs 500lbs less. And I have not put $15K into it. The UrS4 is capable of a lot more, 450hp without opening the engine, but I can't afford those mods. I wanted to put an UrS4 engine in my UrQ, but now I am leaning towards a 1.8T conversion in hopes of saving weight.
The UrS4's are much better cars than my 5ktq in many ways, but in the end I can't justify the extra cost.
