Default Lease quote - ouch!

Just got the following message back from a local dealer.. this is based on list price
for a car with convenience & Bose..

"We did a market scan to find the best deal and at the moment Audi leasing is
your best bet. 3 years with 15000 miles per year to drive and $2400 to
start is $764+tax a month. The same for 48 months is $676+tax per month. A
$500 deposit is all that is required to secure the S4. These rates are
todays rates and may change in your favor. I hope to hear from you."

Yikes! Do these numbers look out of whack or what?? Comments please from those
in the know about leasing and its ins and outs...

Default Re: This is due to AFS. They have residuals that SUCK!!...

I am hoping they will bump the residuals to launch the S4, but I am not holding my breath.

Default *heart attack*

$764/month!!!!!!

For a LEASE!!!!

With $2400 down!!!

Excuse me while I recover from the heart attack those numbers gave me as my dream of someday driving an S4 crashed to the ground.

Lets see:

My A4 lease is $398/month. No cap cost reduction.

With $2400 down, I could EASILY lease TWO 1.8T's for that price.

Not that I can compare the cars-- the S4 is obviously much more high performance.

But, I've got to justify the cost somehow. And, thinking that I could get a brand new A4 for me, and another brand new A4 for my fiancee, is just way beyond the realm of acceptable splurges. I mean, there is a certain point of impracticality when even I have to give up.

And I think $764/month is just about at that line.

I hope others out there have their jaws set harder on getting this car than I. Or, that your wallet is much much fatter than mine.

This S4 forum is going to be a pretty exclusive club.

Default Re: Even with Afs Sucky residuals I calculated low $600 ($614) w/0 down...

What do you mean by $2400 to start, normally you pay 1st month rent, a security deposit rounded to the nearest $25, and the bank fee (this can also be rolled into the cap cost), so I think those figures seem out of whack, at least by my best guess. I used 50% residual on a $40,850 MSRP, $0 down, and a rate of around 8% and got $614!

Default This is my potential deal (being verified by a second source)

2000 S4
w/Convenience Pkg
w/Cold Weather Pkg
Advertising Fee ($150)
Destination ($525)

$4000 total drive off

Payments (taxed included, I think):

10K per year mileage: $540/month
12K per year mileage: $547/month
15K per year mileage: $562/month

Yes, I am getting a deal on the price...(no..the
dealer will not give this deal to the casual
shopper - I refer a bunch of prospective buyers
to him)

Now, which stock do I sell to get the $4K...or do I wait
until bonus time in February 2000?

Default My GTI is looking better all the time..

Well my S4 wet dream has ended I think.. I have a 4-month old GTI GLX (Mk4, VR6) that is
a schweet ride.. it ain't no S4, but for ~$22k, it's a killer ride. Bilsteins and H&R's now on
the way, I'll be carving canyons and trying to forget the S4 in a few days ...

Default I guess my guess wasn't far off!! So...yellow?

I guess my $3500 stab wasn't far off considering I didn't include the 1st pmt or security deposit. Residuals and lease rates must be very similar between the A4 and the S4.

Glad to see you're back in the market. So, will it be yellow?

P.S. You may still want to check out the link in my message on the A4 forum. Who knows-it could save you $40 or $50 a month. Ya never know!
