Default Posting at my own risk: but I'd like to point out something small

These numbers were posted by Todd yesterday.

<img src="http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/cars/996TT_vs_01S4RSK04.jpg">

I would say these are very impressive numbers and show a very nice increase. Although one could ask where were these numbers all-along? the kit hasn't changed. But that could be asked off all the tuners out here....anyway...Todd compared the dyno run you see above to a 996 TT. Definitely a different type of car but I think it's one that us stage 3 owners like to think we are close to if not faster then. Todd's Avant made 1.7hp less. Not shabby by anyones book I would say.

However (and here's where I'm going to get crap from someone I'm sure)

Todd and the other guys down there have made many comments in full doubt of the ASW tuning. I completely understand their arguments about the altitude and they helped me learn a lot. However, a dyno, even one up in CO is still a great way to compare two cars. Yes there is SAE correction, but it's correcting on any car you run up there. It just happens to turn out that ASW has dyno'd a stock 996TT there as well and we can compare that to Ben's 404whp tuned S4.

Ben's tuned S4 made 20whp more then a stock 996TT. Now regardless of what numbers that is. Be it 345 vs 365 or 380 vs 400. The fact is the same two model cars went up together on the same dyno.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but would that not suggest that Ben's car is tuned quite well. Both of these car's were run with 91 octane.

I'm not trying to say their tuning is the best thing in the world. I only want to bring up the point that these numbers would suggest to me, quite good things.

Default 404 Hp to the wheels? I don't believe that is accurate unless he's running mad boost and timing.

What exactly does Ben have on his car Andy? How long does he plan for it to last?

Default Honestly Andy, Do you think anyone but you really gives a **** ?

You really seem to feel the need to justify all the great work you have done to your S4.
What ever happened to just driving a fast car to satisfy yourself ?
Just get that thing back and DRIVE.
screw anybody that has a problem with that.
that is all

Default Rick where have you been! Here's the low down on the dyno

It's up in CO so it does altitude correction. It's compensating too much because turbo's dont' lose much if any power. They do run slower I've learned but if they make as much boost as they are requesting it'll still make the same power and the correction is skewing the numbers. However here are the numbers we've had on it

Stock s4 = 205whp
Stage 2+ apr = 280whp
Sportec tuned cars have had 360whp, 380whp, and two at 404whp
996TT ran low 380's WHP just over 20less then Ben's car

regardless of the numbers they made as I said, its still a dyno, and you can still compare cars done on the SAME dyno if you chose to.

Default What the hell man, did I talk about my car at all there?

What's your problem? The point I'm making has nothing to do with me. The point is we are comparing a tuned s4 to a 996TT be it Todd's avant or Ben's car. Hell my car hasn't been tuned yet - for all I know it won't make as much power as ben's. Who knows! I think I made a well stated point that would inform any one trying to sort out all this crap

Default thats a good point. and you did it tactfully also. you are not bashing AWE.....

just pointing out that ASW also did a comparison. If people get mad at you for that....well you have already learned by now to ignore them. But i think it is a good comparison and appreciate the input. And also, thanks for not bashing another tuner, it adds integrity to your post.

Default I really think it's pointless (to me, anyway)

I'm sure you can tune to even higher output.

Trick is balancing power/reliability.

But I am waaay too conservative as I would never do a stage 3 upgrade. I would either run stage 1 or do the whole RS4 engine

Cosworth found it important to change compression, block internals, heads etc when increasing 2.7tt output. I agree with them

If there kit is capable now of 340whp then it's a better option then some right now
