Running on 5 cylinders when cold... changed the coilpack and plugs...
The engine, when cold, will sometime fire on 5 cylinders only. VAGCOM pointed to cylinder #5, so I changed the coilpack and changed all 6 plugs (they were due anyway). No change... After 1 or 2 miles (when engine runs more hot), the engine fires all 6 cylinders again.
Where to point next?

#1 try swapping plug and coil from a known good cylinder. #2 swap injector from a good cyl. #3
Check oil pressure. If too high (as with a sticking pressure relief valve) can cause some or all lifters to stick open and show as misfires.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Speaking of that, I have a random/stupid question...
If one wanted to save gas during city commuting where it was certain there would be no need for much power, could you disconnect a couple fuel injectors and spark plugs without harming the engine? I know that some autos have this type of electronic control but what about on our cars? Just curious.
