Aside from this method lastnight I undid the 5 bellhousing bolts that you can get to by the top behind the engine does anyone know how to get to the last 3 bolts for the bellhousing to just remove my engine without the tranny coming out too?

You can lower the back of your subframe to gain access and you might need to use a cut off wheel because the bolts are pretty long. The dealer has some updated shorter bolts.

Those bolts can be difficult to remove and you need to be careful because they tend to strip quite easily as they age.

Try dousing the bolt heads with PB blaster and giving each bolt a couple of good bangs with a hammer to help loosen them. It also helps if you turn the driveshaft so that the bolt you're working on is at the bottom. With the trans dropped a lot of pressure gets put on those bolts making them even harder to get out.

Ultimately, if the bolt is stripped beyond hope just grind the head off and deal with it once you've got the motor out.

I wouldn't recommend doing this - getting the motor back in + aligning everything on the transmission (while the trans is still in the car) is basically impossible.

Keep at those driveshaft bolts - get them off however you can - you should be replacing all of those bolts anyway, so it's not biggie if you grind them down.

I had to make a tool to take the bottom tranny bolts off, once I made this tool which was a allen head with a hex top, I used a box end swivel to break it loose. For installation, I changed the bottom three bolts from allen to hex so I wouldn't have this problem again.

Also, I heard a trick where you can undo the engine mounts and lift the engine so you can see the head of the bolts from the front of engine and get to them with extention and rachet.... never tried it though

what transmission is in the car??manual or stick??Did you take out the starter and unbolt torque converter bolts?(if its a automatic only)Also as far as the 6mm allen being stuck. They shouldnt be at all.Are the bolts loose but the axle hasnt moved??if thats the case you gotta tap em with a plastic hammer should loosen them up they fit over a small lip on diff flanges and can sit pretty good in there. There i believe 2 or 3 bolts that go through the transmission and bolt into the oil pan in the rear.some of the bolt on the bottom are a pain in the ***.and it sucks pulling those engines out when you dont have a lift handy.
