Default For those who have replaced heater cores

Where did the core leak from? Cracked plastic? Aluminum crack? Pinhole? Is there any component of the cooling system between the heater core and the ports exposed in the engine bay?

My thought is to islolate the heater core to a system of a bucket, pump and hoses and circulate some stop leak and water through the heater core alone for a few hours.

Mine is slowly leaking I believe and I'm dreading removing the dash myself or paying for that job. A stop-leak product would be the ideal fix if it weren't for the fear of plugging up something that shouldn't be. This seems to be a low-risk fix to try.
