Default 2016 S6 w/ APR ECU

I know there are many APR tune threads that I could piggyback off of, but the change is so dramatic I am starting my own.

The first thing I noticed after the tune was the complete lack of throttle lag. The car felt different and it took me a minute to figure out why. The result is a much smoother experience.

To the meat of the ECU upgrade. Imagine a well fed and groomed pitbull tossed into a dog fight. It has natural abilities that will take down most opponents. That is the pre-ECU S6.

Now image that same pitbull insane with rabies and half starved. That is the post-ECU S6. I have the Audi rubber floor mats. If I get on the car, the pull will make the passenger floor mat fold back over itself.

This is why I wanted a S6. Good job APR!

Default Mat folds over without tune

Crap mats from Audi. Enjoy the tune but not the mats.

How much $? What kind of gains are you looking at with a stage I, 91 octane? I think this will be my next project.

Good analogy Joe. I laughed. You had to introduce Rabies in there... couldn't just live with half-starved. :-)

I had the APR tune on my 01 allroad and it was amazing. I will do my S6 as soon as the warranty expires. Oh yea, I put about 80,000 miles on the allroad in tuned mode and the only problem was a torn intake Y tube from all the pressure. Was an easy fix.

Is the APR tune currently considers the best available for the S6?

The tune was $1500. They list 91 octane at 555hp which is kind of weird, because when you look at the "Gain" chart it shows a 144hp gain. Must be a difference in slope.
APR Audi C7.5 S6/S7 4.0 TFSI V8 ECU Upgrade

The place I had the tune done was non-committal on the best tune. They did say that the APR is the most popular.

I have only run 93 octane in it and it is a beast. I did a launch the other day and it actually spun all 4 tires for an instant. I currently have Continental DWS06s on it, but it was dry.

I waited 9 months to get mine tuned. To me, it is silly to have this car and have the software taking "all" of the guts out of it so there is a big enough spread between model price points. The shop will reload factory software for service visits. The off and on is only $40. It is more of a pain going there than the cost of it.

I just got my 2016 S6 tuned today with APR Stage 1 v1.1 and the difference is quite noticeable. You feel it right away either when on boarding the highway or needing to accelerate from 60 to 90 in seconds flat. Feel glued to the back of my sport seats. Loving it! Thanks for the advice. Also, I have 5400 miles on the car and a friendly dealer that tells me to put it in stock mode when I leave the car for service and make sure they don't do an SVU on the car. They will work around the tune as long as I am transparent with them. It's all good until a major problem, I guess. But he says tons of folks who come to the dealership have the tune and are still under warrantee. Go figure. Five years and he says he's never seen a problem as long as folks are straightforward.

Congrats! I'm close pulling the trigger on a tune, probably APR but not quite sure yet. I'm probably going to wait until the first oil change at 5,000 miles...maybe not. Does your APR shop flash it back to stock for free or is there a fee?
