Try a hard reset of the phone and an MMI reboot. Has worked for me in the past.

To clarify, with the yellow grommet cable (part number?) would you be able to have an iPhone's display mirrored when in park? If so, I assume that means if you enable VIM through VAGCOM, you could use a third party Nav system like Waze to show you about reported speed traps and reported traffic hazards. Thanks!

EDIT: It looks like with this cable you can only use stored videos in the Videos app, not pull up AirPlay mode like works with BT audio streaming. It seems I'll need to look at a analog video solution

Your edit is correct. Only Apple the native iPhone apps will play audio or video through any applicable AMI cable.
