Default Nav update?

My new to me 2013 S6 seemed due for a Nav database upgrade. My local dealership in Richland, Washington quoted me $365?!? Is it just me or does this seem insane?

They are also telling me they would need to 'special order' a license to do a MMI upgrade to fix bluetooth issues???

Are Audi's normally this much of a pain in the rear? I've never had a BMW or Mercedes (I've owned both) dealer tell me they need to special order some software, they just hook the car up to the computer and download whatever they need, never a 'special order' mess!

Call another dealer and see what they quote.

The MMI update will be free as long as the car is still under warranty. Just tell them your Windows phone can't hold a Bluetooth connection.

I think the Nav update is separate from the MMI updates and a Nav map update is not free.

A few years ago Audi was promoting a $99 Nav update on their website (for the SD card only), but most dealers wanted up to $250 more to install it. The Audi dealer in Madison, WI installed it for me for $75 and at the time I made multiple copies of the invoice for other members here on the forum to show their dealers that were also asking up to $300 to install it.

If I remember correctly, the dealer told me while it took 3 hours for the update to install, all the tech had to do was load the SD card in the slot and keep the battery on a charger.

It was installed in a late 2010 S5 Cab (04/2010 production) sometime in the Spring of 2013. While I don't go on the Audi website very often, I don't ever remember seeing any more Nav map updates notices since that one time in 2013. I'm going to check my map version numbers and will post what's in both of my Audis.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all here on AudiWorld!

Yeah, that's correct. The MMI update is not the same as the Maps. The OP asked about both. The MMI update is free, as long as you're under warranty and say what I said. The maps, for anything pre-2016, will be $200-400, depending on where you go.

FYI, even on a 2016 where you can upgrade yourself, it still takes hours and the process is the same. I'm updating my car now and every 30 minutes or so I go out and start it for 2-3 minutes.

Just to keep this going.....

My 2014 S6 has a production date of 01/14. The Nav database is: 8R0060884BL - NAR 6.9.2

What's the latest 3G version out there for 2013-2015 models?

You download it from myaudi and write it to the root folder of a flash drive or SD card. Insert the SD card or flash drive in the car and select update in the MMI setup. I heard that background update can take a week to update and the immediate update a few hours, where you will need to start the car every 30 minutes or so to keep the battery charged and stop the car from turning itself off.

Mine finished in around 50 minutes for the full update. It was a LOT faster than "2015" > "2015/2016".
