Default S6 / S7 Comparison

I was interested in gathering all the "differences" between the S6 and S7. After purchasing my S6, I had begun to think to myself why didn't I consider the S7? I'd like to highlight the actual differences so someone thinking of buying a S6 or S7 can make some comparisons.

I'd like to keep adding to the list if you can pass on info. I'll correctively edit it, as I get additional info & details.

Obviously there is a $9000+ price difference between the S6 and S7. Most say that's just a total retail mark up on body design for the S7. But like most German luxury brands, the higher priced models also have noticeable material quality and style differences (in other words high quality and better designed materials are used in the cars construction) to the exterior and especially the interior. I wonder how much different the materials are in the S7, if at all?

List: (updated on 2/18/17) I think I pretty much have all the differences listed here:

- Hatchback or "Sportback"
- The S7 is larger (exterior/interior dimensions.)
- S7 Doors are "rimless" design (flameless)
- S7 Interior leather rapped armrests are straight (different design)
- S7 Central upper cabin roof module (cabin lights "Dome lights") sunroof controls (different design)
- S7 Tires are wider 265's or 275's (wider)
- 21" Black optic wheel package (275's) (S6 is 20")
- 4 seat design only. (rear center area is a holding/storage area)
- No 360 degree camera system on the S7, as the side mirrors are different and located on the doors.
- Soft Close doors are an ADD ON option to the S7, and NOT available at all on the S6
- Rear Automatic Mechanical spoiler on the S7

Here's are a couple more differences that I know of:
1/ You can't lock the back seats and have anything secured in the boot/trunk.

2/ You can't have the 360 degree camera, as the side mirrors are different and located on the doors.

Materials are essentially the same with minor cosmetic differences in the dash trim. Other than the mentioned items in the previous post and the external treatments, the two models are the same.

The 4 vs 5 seat was a deal breaker for me.

With the 2 Tin Lids having friends and driving them anywhere was out. At least with 3 rear seats I can take them places.

2 Rear seats just not enough - and when one of the major justifications for the upgrade for me from the S4 to the S6 was interior space and seating capacity, the S7 ruled itself out.

I was surprised when my neighbor got his refreshed A7 and found they didn't add the extra cameras to the 7 so no 360 view. That and to me also the 4 seats only in the S7 were deal breakers. Both of which are surprising as the A7 can be configured with 5 seats.

Until the 2017 MY, the S7 only came in the Prestige trim level while the S6 was available in both Prestige and Premium Plus.

The S6 is taller and narrower. Also it's a just smidge quicker stock for stock because it's lighter than the S7 according to Car and Driver

I like the Idea to have soft close doors on the S7, and I am surprised that there is no 360 Camera view, I'm not sure why they can't have that integrated? As far as the 4 seats vs 5 seats, I don't really think it's a big deal either way. That middle seat is very tight, it's really only good for children.

But wow, the 9K difference is literally just a body style profit for Audi?

The placement of the side mirrors on the A/S7 negates the ability to mount the two additional cameras necessary for a 360 degree view. And yes, you're paying almost 10K for a styling "upgrade" (I don't particularly like the "dog running away" rear end of the S7, but plenty of people think it's all sex). It's all relative: I love the styling of the Avant, while many wouldn't be caught dead in a station wagon.
