Default DIY black optics?

Can this be done? is it easy to paint the grill as well as the chrome around the windows?

I used plastidip for the grille, front diffuser, and rear diffuser. Haven't tried the window trim yet.

That looks great. How hard was that to do? Did you remove parts or paint right on car?

How is it in different lighting conditions? I know someone else who did something similar and he said it looked bad in certain light - he suggested having the trim pieces wrapped instead.

It was fairly easy to do. The most time consuming part is the taping and covering to prevent the overspray. This is probably the best video to follow.....

The plastidip peels right off the unwanted parts as long as you apply enough coats (5-10 coats depending on thickness you use) and even if there is some overspray, goo gone removes it very easily.

This was my first attempt so it's by no means perfect. You can see a couple of streaks here and there where I went a little too heavy, but I'm completely fine with them. You really have to look closely to pick them out and for $7 a can I have no complaints.

That sick! Besides the grille, what other changes did you make exactly?

I made the front diffuser (just below the grille) black, as well as the rear diffuser. Both used to be a grayish/silverish color (besides the mesh part on the rear diffuser). I also debadged the 3.0T and quattro on the back. Only changes so far....hoping to find a set of wheels soon.
