Default Winter tires for Canadians

What are other folks planning to do for winter tires?

I just talked to my dealer today, seems like the price of their winter tire package went massively up. Their 17" package includes 4 Audi rims, 4 Pirelli Winter Ice Zero FR, mounting/balancing/first installation. I hear the offset is different too so rims from the B8 can't be reused...

Should I wait a while longer? I feel like I remember having seen manufacturer-backed winter tire promos in the past in October?

What were you quoted? I got a quote for a 17" set at $2,000 but they were the ugliest rims I had ever seen.

Am waiting for Audi - Winterwheels to be online soon. Maybe worth the wait.

Have you considered and checked with Tire Rack?

About $2500...

I thought the dealer winter tire packages typically included the same rims as on the base (Komfort) car?

Looking now, hmmm, they seem to have cheap aftermarket alloy rims...

Interestingly, since I had thought I might be in the U.S. in October, I had googled to see what the Audi dealer in Buffalo wants for winter rims. Was shocked at how much more expensive they were than in Canada...

Yes. I bought 18" Blizzak package for $1250 (US...) last winter.

So glad this was started... I have no clue as to what I'm getting either... but once I'm back in October, I'm gonna be looking into it before the prices spike when word of winter actually arrives.

I have to say... I'm liking that I see people opting for 18's not 17's. Phew.

You don't have to get them tomorrow, but I would think that the later into the season you go, the less choices you have as some models get sold out.
