Good idea. If you were to try, it more than likely would result in your face turning blue and you would die a horrible death from lack of oxygen. A settlement will probably take longer than you could hold your breath.

interesting, if Audi is found at fault...they might have to buy back all the 3.0T vehicles....

I just thought that maybe you or someone else knew how these car lawsuits work, since most car companies have had them filed against them for one reason or another over the years.

I went ahead and filled out the form anyway. The questions that were asked make me think it is for original owners of the car. However, I would think that since I am now the current owner and could have potential diminished value in my car if this becomes a serious issue. then it should open to original and secondary owners of the cars mentioned in the lawsuit.

Been there, done that.

These class action suits follow pretty much the same process. A lawsuit is filed and after a few months, if a judge doesn't toss it for lack of merit, a court date is set for down the road which can be two years or more.

While waiting for the court date, the lawyers ask for motions, do due diligence, perform discovery and take depositions. Continuances will be requested and granted. More time passes. If the defendants feel they have a weak case, negotiations begin. More continuances. More time passes.

Finally, 3-5 years later, if a settlement is agreed to it's proposed to the judge. If approved, a year or so is granted to find all the class claimants with opt in letters. If it goes to trial and found for the plaintiffs, the process to find members of the class begins again. Once that period lapses, amounts are determined to each class participant and the judge again must approve. Finally, if that amount is approved, months later, checks go out.

Keep iin mind, defendant attorneys will drag it out as long as possible before either settling or going to trial.
