Default Had a flat

Right after I exited I-87 south bound (Central Valley NY) after the toll both, i got a low tire pressure warning. I know this cannot be good. Due to the narrow emergency lane, I was reluctant to pull over and continued driving for about 5 minutes until I found a wider space to stop. Got out from the car and I smell rubber burning. The tire was ripped about an inch and it appears to have hit a sharp object at the toll booth. Spent about 30 minutes installing the spare tire and 10 minutes inflating it. The tire is a goner. I hope the rim is not damage.

On my way back, there was another A6 C7 on the opposite direction with spare tire installed but on a tow truck. I guess the spare tire may not have sufficient air.

Here's some photos.

Sorry hear that, but glad you are safe.

Hope your wheel is okay.

another reason why the OEM contiprocontacts are just horrible tires. Super soft sidewalls and terrible traction and longeitivity makes them a bad choice. I had them on our A8L and dumped them immediately for Michelins which have stronger sidewalls and less likely to get flats than Contiprocontact. At least you are ok at the end.

If i continue to drive for another 5 minutes, i'm pretty sure the tire will be totally gone with the wheel. The A6 was handling pretty good with 1 flat. The car did not wobble even at 60MPH. But you know something ain't right because of the noise it made.

I ordered the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus.

Excellent choice! I have those on our 2012 Audi A8L and the prior season Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 on my 2016 Audi A7 and 2014 Audi A6TDI and they run so smooth and inspire great handling with low road noise. The problem with them was poor traction in snow but I always put winter wheels with Blizzaks during winter time. All the Audis have 20 inch rims and non had bad flats like your case or damages and they resist big potholes well and have maintained their balance for a really long time. The newer AS3 plus on tirerack have great reviews with far better snow traction if you decide to use them year round.

43k. I'm planning to change them at 50k, which is another 6 months based on my commute. The front has more tread because I have just rotated them 6 months ago after 30k miles.

The AS3+ is a no brainer. It ranks #1 in tire track and cheaper than the #2 DWS 06. They were installed yesterday and first impression was that these tires are very quiet and smooth. The quietness reminds me of driving the car off the lot 4.5 years ago. Loving it so far.
