It depends on your location, how many competing dealers are in your area and your willingness to expand your search radius. With the imminent arrival of the 2018's, all current Q5 are being discounted to at least 4% off without any negotiation. The supplier discount is 6% if you have it.

I think you can get 10-12% off with some effort if you're willing to compromise on color.
I bought a '17 SQ5 for about 10% off a few months ago.

What ^^ said, plus this:

If a person has been an Audi Club of North America (ACNA) member for the previous 6 months, contact ACNA (audiclubna.org) to get a form that said person can provide to a participating dealer and get 6% off MSRP (some model restrictions apply).

Just ask for 6% off and you'll get it pretty easily on a Q5.

I just negotiated yesterday an 11% discount plus a $2,750 rebate on the exact Q5 2.0T Premium Plus I wanted coming to the dealer from the port. This is on a lease deal. Should arrive next week.

I inquired over the holidays with one of the dealers in Houston (Central), as I was having a bad day with my wife's GTI, and for a cash purchase their first offer was 17% off MSRP for a 2017 2.0T PP (though they added back $500 for front window tint plus some useless dealer add-ons).

In the end however I fixed the GTI and decided we would wait for the new Q5.
