Default Need LED Component Advice for Building B/U Light (Louis) =)

So I had the bright idea (no pun intended) to stick on an LED strip in this black vertical piece to augment the useless OE reverse lamps. The space would accommodate a 1cm X 24cm strip, but I have not found one that's bright enough. Then I thought why not drill some holes for high-brightness LEDs and wondered if anyone (LTooz) had any advice. Maybe five at most.

Thanks
Tom

Interesting Idea? You could tap into either the back up lights or the rear fogs.

I think the back-up lights do not have a "check" function, but the rear fogs do, so one reason to go straight to B/U lights (less chance of light-out error). I already use the rear fogs to augment the B/U lights - they appear brighter AND they are a great warning to approaching drivers. (Good idea - throw a diode and relay in there to allow the rear fogs to come on any time the reverse lights are on).

My first thought was to replace the 20W b/u light bulbs with 20 watts' worth of LED (therefore BRIGHT), but I think the low-mounted LEDs would be far easier.

Default This will be perfect for what you want to do - quite simple...

Only US$6.0, G.T.POWER L8 LED Light System for RC Car Truck - Tomtop.com

I got some 1/2" LED self contained water proof quite bright - I forgot where I got them, high wattage

Cheers,

Louis

Please tell me I'm not losing my mind because I've been looking at the picture for quite a while wondering where this light will go. You meant black horizontal piece right??

Thanks, Louis. Looks good on your car (Amazon's pics look too blue).

Chok,
The black panel in the foreground, upper right, is vertical (up-n-down). They will go in there and shine straight back. That photo IS a bit confusing; look up under your car and you'll see...
