Default Shifting Hesitation between 1st & 2nd

I have a 2004 Sline TT 3.2L Roadster. It has the 6 speed DSG transmission.

Under hard acceleration there is a brief hesitation shifting between 1st and 2nd. No hesitation shifting between any other gears or starting off the line in 1st.

Think of this as putting it in sport mode and nailing the gas pedal. Moderate driving it does not do this.

My mechanic thinks it might be the clutch. I was wondering if it might be a solenoid in the electro mechanical control unit.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

For what it's worth I have the same issue, but I'm in a 2013 TT S-Tronic with 9000 miles.
When mashing on the gas from a stop there is a noticeable dead spot, gap, or hesitation in the acceleration before shifting into 2nd. The tach doesn't increase with the hesitation so I'm hoping that it isn't a slipping clutch, but more of a software issue.

Anyway, if you figure anything out please post back and I'll do the same.
