Default Socket for turbo bolts?

I'm trying to remove the 3 bolts holding the turbo on. They are 6-star.

Can I use a regular 12-point socket on them? When I put my 11mm socket on them it doesn't feel real secure.

What socket size/type should I use?

I recall you mentioning you've removed and repaired many engine especially before. You should have, if not, time to buy some E type Torx female sockets.

You really need the service manual for the car. Buy it. And make sure you buy every fastener that is meant to be replaced. Many are stretch type. Same for every gasket, washer, O-Ring etc.

Great, thanks. Never had a need for female E type torx on any other car.

As a follow up, I just got my new turbo bolts from Audi and the heads are about twice as long as the old ones. Guess they figured out the original design was bad. Lucky for the next guy!
