Default Will different Front/Rear Tire sizes affect quattro?

a lot of people have 8.5x18s in front and 10x18s in back. has anybody noticed any adverse effects from having different tire widths? quattros actively adjust torque dispersal based on slippage etc right? hmm... so i guess as long as it is sensing traction loss then tire size wont matter?

Only positives from staggering here. Same sizes as 500 HP HPA twin turbo TT.

I think if Audi thought different size tires would improve the performance of your TT they would have done it ! I also think quattro performs better with 4 equal size tires.

Make sure diameters are within 6%, or you chance overheating the Haldex.

Default Actually>>>

It doesn't have the slightest affect on quattro b/c the quattro system and all types of traction control systems deal with rotational speed of the wheel. They deal with the angular velocity/momentum at the outer rim of the tire, thus using a wider tire does not affect the calculations. The only thing that would affect quattro would be different rim sizes. I think it would be interesting to see if the car could be setup like the 996 Turbo>>AWD but mostly RWD due to differnt tire diameters!

I'm running 17x8 w/235.45 & 17x9 w/245.45 with no problems on a TTQ

Running 225/40 and 255/35 gives a tire diameter difference of 7 hundredths of an inch. Worry not.

Nope. Don't think so. The looks of the car sell itself...the parts are chinsy.

Default according to Audi, better keep same tire size

according to Audi, the quattro differential would be affected by having different width wheels in the front and the back...

altho Im guessing its not going to make a noticeable difference....

Default ABS has the wheel inertia built into the calculations.

If you change the amount, the initial application of torque will be off somewhat.
