Default 2001 Audi TT convertible problems

hello all

i have recently started to get a warning light constantly on in my audi TT roadster, let me try and explain:

when you release the hatch to bring the hood down a warning light appears on the dashboard when the roof is down the lights goes out,

when you bring the roof back up the windows drop slightly, you hook the hatch back in the warning light should turn of, this is my problem the warning light stays on and the windows dont go back up either when i close the roof.

has anyone experienced this or does any one know why this light stays on, any advice will be great. i have notice there is a kind of button which the hatch pushes in when closing could this be the problem??

First, you have a Mk 1 TT but are posting on a Mk 2 forum.

The light staying on is a common problem in the Mk 1. Yes it is the button in the hole on the driver's side windshield. Try slightly bending the lever inside the hole that engages the switch. Alternatively, you can glue a little pad on the lever.
