Default auxillary emissions control?

I've got a 2000 S4. My registration was up at the end of the month and my check eng light comes on. I scanned it and it came back 2 codes read Auxillary emissions control was both of them. The codes were p1411 and p1423 on a actron code scanner. I cleared it, drove it a few miles, and they came back on. I took out the air filter to check for leaks or anything of that nature. I just installed a K&N I thought maybe I accidently unplugged something or, maybe the seal wasn't seating, everything looks good. I ran the codes again and another code popped up with them P0431 (warm up catalyst below thresh hold) I've been on the computer for hours trying to figure it out any advice will really help me out.

Default If you were using a VAG-specific scan tool,

you'd know that these codes meant:

Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 1: Insufficient Flow

Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2: Insufficient Flow

Default great news for Secondary Air Injection System problems

Once I found out my check engine light was on due to my secondary air injection system had insufficient flow, I started pricing new pumps. I found that a new pump for my S4 was going to run me $800.00 new and $600 used (and would probably have the same problem in a year) I found a web sit that a guy posted. He rebuilt his for the cost of 6x 8-32 1 1/2" long non-corrosive pan head machine screws with self locking nuts (maybe ten bucks) and a couple hours of your time. I posted the link for you.<ul><li><a href="http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3751790&amp;postid=47228396">http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3751790&amp;postid=47228396</a</li></ul>

Default

It's far more likely to be a plumbing problem than the pump itself.

Default SIA problems

Before replacing the pump, make sure the vaccuum lines are good. Also, there is a small valve on the top/back of the engine next to the SIA selenoid. In my car, it is a small plastic blue color part. I had similar problems and found that little valve had broken end. After replacing it, problem got resolved.

This is an actual picture from my car (when had a problem). Hope this helps.

These are the most common placaes to check first:

1. Vacuum lines (thin rubber tubings) for cracks,
2. one-way vacuum valve (blue piece),
3. selenoid,
4. SAI pump **relay**

The pump and selelenoid can be tested with Vag-com (output tests).
