I need a definitive answer regarding a TBA on a 2.8 12v
Some people keep saying that a TBA is possible on a non-DBW '96 A4.
I had the TB out. There is nothing to adjust other than the throttle position sensor, and it's only adjustable by loosening it and recalibrating it manually to the butterfly valve. There is no motor for adjusting anything there. The throttle cable goes directly from the gas pedal to the TB.
When I asked an Audi tech if a throttle body adaption was possible on my non-DBW '96, he just laughed at me.
However, the topic comes up over and over, and there are always people who claim a TBA is possible? Please, can someone clarify this issue?

Definitive Answer:
It depends! :-)
There are non-DBW cars (usually with Bosch ECU's) that have motorized throttle bodies instead of an idle-air bypass valve. Examples: 1996-1999 VR6's, 1996 and newer non-DBW 1.8T's, 1998-1999 30V 2.8's, etc. On these you can and should do a TBA.
But your car has a Hitachi ECU and a seperate idle-air bypass valve, so no TBA is possible.
