New VAG COM user; need some help on module 46
Prior to tweaking, parking lights would flash once and alarm beep would sound.
Coding was 11788.
I added "comfort functions with remote" (+64), and "locking via speed" (+32). I subtracted (-4) so all doors would open with one remote push.
It all worked great and the windows going up/down with remote is way cool.
However, now I have no audible beep or parking light flash when alarm arms itself. In fact I have no idea if the alarm even IS armed other than the blinking door LED.
What is interesting is that when I recoded back to 11788, it STILL won't go back to beeping or flashing parking lights. I then added on each function as above one at a time, and those functions worked as described, but still no alarm. This is the first thing I've done with my new VAG COM (received from Ross-Tech today).

Weird.
Needless to say, a zillion B6/B7 A4 owners have made these tweaks and I've never heard of the flash or horn going away.
Question: After changing the coding back to 11788, did you cycle the ignition before testing the functionality? Some changes may not "take" until you cycle the ignition.

Yes, and I got out of the car and tried it with remote thinking I just couldn't hear it in car (m).
The parking lights still blink twice for disarming of alarm, which I think is useless because you know you're unlocking the door if it ummm.... "opens".... lol. But I want a visual/audio confirmation of arming. I guess I'll deal with it, but I wish I could test the alarm working, but I don't want to break in to my own car. As long as the alarm is audible should it be broken in to, I'm cool. But I wonder if it works at all now.

OK, I'm officially an idiot. Here is what needs asked if any other moron posts with this.
1. Is your hood closed?

I'm also putting an intercooler in, so my hood was open while I took a break from that to mess with VAG COM when the FedEx guy brought it. So, obviously the alarm won't arm if not all doors AND hatches are closed.
It's all good now.
VAG COM is cool. Just did the >'02 fog light mod, also (was posted on AW in B6 forum a little while back), and it works like a champ.

I just got a B7 and want to make my windows go up and down via remote.
I have never used a VAG but am thinking of purchasing one (unless anyone knows anywhere in SoCal I could get this done) to do this mod.
Could someone help me out and either point me to some place I could get this done or in the right direction on where I could get instructions for how to do this... I don't want to mess up my new B7.
