1.9TDi 81kW turning key - starter not engaging
Hey,
So I replaced my 96 A4 B5 1.9TDi 81kW battery from 72Ah 360A to a 100Ah 860A monster to help me survive the winter to come. Along with that I also changed my glowplugs. That kitten started within half a turn unlike previous 3-5 sec of cranking. Drove it around for an hour. Parked the car at my usual spot and left it there til I had to go to work in the morning.
So the car was standing till the next morning after which it did not start again.
I turn my key to the position where the starter is supposed to kick in, but nothing happens. Battery is at 12.39 volts, everything OK with that. The lights work, radio works, dashlights go on like a christmas tree as usual. But absolutely nothing - it wont crank. I'm not sure if the key position cut off power from headlights, radio and climate control before. Also not sure if immobilizer light was blinking before aswell. I'm sure it's not the immo fault because it would allow the engine to run for couple of seconds.
What should I try? What wires should I jump to fire the starter from inside the car? Might be the starter solenoid?
