How bad is a buldge in sidewall?
Washing the wife's A4 and noticed a quarter-sized buldge in the sidewall of her Goodyear Eagle all-seasons. The tires only have about 20k miles on them, still pretty good and we don't have the budget to replace. However, I don't want them to fail on her.
I tried to take a photo but it doesn't really show anything. How critical is this type of problem?

I've seen people driving with bulges in tires for years...
my own parents included.
However, there is no guarantee that it's safe. You never know, and for that reason, if it was my own car and tire, I'd get it replaced.
Having it replaced by GY under warranty is rather unlikely, but it's worth a try. They will probably just tell you that the bulge is a result of an impact (with a pothole), and you won't be able to prove them otherwise. Then again, if I was the tire mfg, I'd do the same.
I had the displeasure of dealing with Goodyear's customer service in the past - they weren't very accomodating.
