are powdercoated wheels the best for winter driving?
Hi, are powdercoated wheels the best for winter driving? Based on a quick google, I see that powdercoating can have a "decorative finish" or "functional finish."
Do powdercoated wheels provide the best durability for winter driving? Are they essentially "bulletproof" from corrosion from snow, slush, road salts and other chemicals?

They are pretty good but I have seen some wheels where it flakes off because the flexing of the wheels when they hit pot holes hard (driver issue)

Best? Define best.
A good powdercoat job is good at applying various colors and textures, but it is always done by electrostatic bonding of a PLASTIC to the underlying metal.
For winter wheels, you may get wet snow and slush freezing onto the wheels, all the way across them. You'll get abrasive rock salt hitting them. You think a vinyl plastic can be harder? Smoother? Slicker and easier to clean? than polished metal?
The good news is that you can always powdercoat your wheels when it is time to refinish them. Whatever they were to start with. You like the look of powdercoated wheels now? OK, so do it now, worry about recoating them when and if you need to.
