Audi A4 B7: How to Jump Start Battery

A dead battery means you will be late for something, so learn how to jump start your Audi A4 B7.

This article applies to the Audi A4 (2004-2008).

Having jumper cables available in your Audi A4 can mean the difference between sitting by your car, or going to where you need to be. The jumper cable will allow you to briefly charge your battery using another car, and once you have enough charge to start your car, your alternator will charge your battery for as long as your engine is on. If you have a dead battery, or if you just want to learn in case your battery dies one day, read on to get your Audi going again.

Materials Needed

  • Jumper cable
  • A helping car

Step 1 – Connect positive cable

Connect the positive cable to the working car's positive battery terminal, then connect it to the dead car's positive battery terminal.

Step 2 – Connect negative cable

Connect the negative cable to the working car's negative battery terminal, then connect it to the dead car's battery terminal. Make sure the negative (black) cable doesn't touch anything metal as you connect it, or it could create a spark.

Step 3 – Start the car

Wait five minutes to allow the dead battery to charge, then start the dead car. Once it starts, remove the jumper cable in reverse order. Remove the negative cable, then remove the positive cable. Make sure to drive your car around to allow it to charge as much as you can before you turn it off again.
