Dunlop Tires to Star on Speed Channel's 'Sports Car Revolution'
AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Not one to give away an intriguing ending, but Dunlop and Audi modifier STaSIS Engineering can't resist showing off in this Saturday's premiere of Sports Car Revolution on Speed Channel.
STaSIS officials said they turned a humble Audi A4 into a high-horsepower sports car "crusher," and they credited Dunlop for part of the performance boost. Dunlop officials say they expect the series to give their brand a lift as well.
The 13-episode series, which runs through May 21, follows the extensive modification of the Audi by STaSIS Engineering. The progress is monitored by professional test drivers and test equipment.
STaSIS used Dunlop SP Super Sport Race, an extreme high-performance sport radial designed for supercar owners and autocross enthusiasts who need a non- competition, DOT-legal street tire that provides maximum dry grip.
Paul Lambert, STaSIS president, said the Audi A4 on Dunlop tires exceeded the producer's expectations. "The final product is a compelling story, with exciting characters and amazing vehicle performance."
Lambert said the SP Super Sport Race tires achieved 1.4 g in braking and 1.2 g in lateral grip. "The guest and test drivers both praised the Dunlops for their feedback and responsiveness."
Mike Pulte, Dunlop's manager of vehicle personalization marketing, said STaSIS delivers the ultimate in automotive performance. "The engineering company shares Dunlop's passion for automotive performance. We were fortunate to work together on this project."
The SP Super Sport Race "combines incredible grip with awesome handling and styling, allowing performance drivers to utilize their vehicle's full potential," Pulte said. "They understand the balance of tires and machine; they appreciate the difference an extreme sports tire can make."
Each episode of Sports Car Revolution will start at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and be repeated at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays. One episode will be dedicated to tire technology and Dunlop tire options. The television show is tailored to sports car enthusiasts and youth-oriented "tuners."
Dunlop is a global tire brand with an excellent reputation among performance car enthusiasts. Well known for its prestigious original- equipment fitments and sports car racing heritage, Dunlop is also a key supplier to sport compact enthusiasts featuring "tuner" tire sizes and race series sponsorship.
