16 percent growth on German home market

Sales chief Schwarzenbauer: “Advance orders already received for over two-thirds of A1 units available this year”

Around 829,300 cars sold worldwide in first three quarters

Ingolstadt, October 7, 2010 – Sales figures for the AUDI AG continue to climb: In September the company delivered around 102,650 cars worldwide, 16 percent more than in the prior-year month. The cumulative figure was 829,300 cars – up 17.6 percent. In September Audi enjoyed strong growth in China and the United States, and also posted high growth rates in Germany, where sales figures went up 16 percent compared with the prior-year month.

On AUDI AG’s home market, sales of the A5 car line remained successful. The Audi model enjoying the biggest surge in demand was the A6, with demand among corporate clients rising considerably again. The A1 also contributed towards the good monthly tally in its first month on sale. “The A1 is proving a huge hit: Over two-thirds of the units that we will have available to ship this year have already been pre-ordered,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. “This new volume model will give us extra momentum in Europe in the fourth quarter. For 2011, we have already increased the production capacity of the A1 by 20 percent.”

In other European markets, sales figures are on the increase, too. In Europe as a whole, the brand posted an 8.3 percent rise in sales in the past month. Sales picked up especially in Eastern Europe, while in France Audi expects to end 2010 as premium market leader for the first time ever.

On the Chinese market, Audi delivered a new monthly record of 22,125 units – 45.1 percent above the result of September 2009. The sales total for the year to date for China was 60.7 percent up on the corresponding period of the previous year.

Audi also achieved another record-breaking month in the United States: 8,151 cars represented a sales increase of 13.1 percent. Over the first three quarters of the year, Audi shipped 73,590 cars to customers in the States, 23.6 percent more than in the equivalent period of 2009.
