ABT RS Q8

Kempten-based tuning company ABT Sportsline converts Audi’s flagship RS Q8 SUV into a Lamborghini Urus rival!

The Ingolstadt-based carmaker’s RS Q8 is the latest offering to receive ABT Sportsline’s tuning treatment. The re-tuned performance crossover is offered in two configurations. The most capable model comes equipped with the ABT Power S upgrade and puts out a whopping 730 BHP of maximum power and 679 lb-ft of peak torque. The performance enhancement is quite impressive considering that this ABT Q8 model develops 89 BHP more than the standard Lamborghini Urus motor.

ABT Sportsline’s other model which is called ABT Power produces 691 BHP and 649 lb-ft of torque. This is still a major improvement over the stock power output of the Audi RS Q8 which stands at 591 BHP and 590 lb-ft. The SUV also receives an aftermarket quad-tip exhaust that offers better performance by decreasing back pressure with the help of two electrically-controlled flaps. The company claims that its top-of-the-line ABT Power S variant can accelerate to 62 MPH (100 km/h) from a complete standstill in just 3.4 seconds and that its ABT Power model can make the same run in 3.5 seconds.

In addition to the performance upgrades, the German tuning company also offers an update to modify the ride settings of the crossover. Customers can use ABT Level Control to reconfigure the car’s air suspension setup. This feature improves the SUV’s handling characteristics by lowering the suspension by 0.59 inches in Dynamic mode, 0.98 inches in Comfort mode, and 0.39 inches in the ‘Coffee mode’.

The SUV rides on 23-inch high-performance GR alloys that sport a Y-shaped design. The 10-spoke wheels feature tiny slits near the rim and are painted in a glossy black color scheme with diamond-finish accents. The SUV’s bright red brake calipers offer a vivid contrast to ABT’s GR wheels and present a striking visual. The company also offers a polished tip exhaust as a style accessory that comes embossed with ABT monograms. The rear spoiler is made out of carbon fiber and the fender vents also get the same carbon treatment.

ABT Sportsline’s RS Q8 is an impressive offering and quite an exemplary contrast to Mansory’s Porsche Cayenne which only goes to show that German tuning companies definitely have a soft corner for performance SUV nameplates.
