Introduction: AudiWorld Project car B8.5 allroad

It’s been a bit of time since we’ve done any kind of project car, and we found a really nice Ibis White over black 2014 allroad with only 25k miles at our dealer, so we snatched it up, and started scheming all of the fun things we’d do to it. We don’t plan on going too crazy in terms of performance mods, mostly because the car will be used as a daily driver, and live in Vermont, which brings the risks of deep snow, mud and frost heaves. That pretty much rules out most suspension modifications. We’re not ruling out some mild tweaks here and there, but mostly are angling towards easy but functional upgrades.

Our car happened to come with a bunch of Audi accessories already installed, such as factory mud flaps, and the full all weather floor mats and cargo liner, so we’re set there for now.

The first thing we did when we got the car home was to run through some of the standard and well known VCDS “tweaks” that are applicable to the B85. This includes disabling winking DRL, activating window control via remote, and a few others we’ll talk about later.

We also debadged the rear.

We’ll be hitting up the forums looking for ideas and suggestions as well, so if you have something you’d like to have us try, we’d love to hear.

A little more about our allroad. This is a premium model, which means the basic MMI, non nav, standard audio system. It also doesn’t have the sport package, which means the standard seats and 4 spoke steering wheel. Honestly, we’re ok with the standard seats, they are supremely comfortable – not that the sport seats aren’t, but we really like the comfort seats. As well, the 4 spoke wheel is really nice and thick, the only thing we miss are the paddle shifters. That’s a potential upgrade down the road, if we can find a suitable replacement wheel. It does have full LED lights, which we love.

Stay tuned for more soon!
