Default engine problem please help!!!

I was about 3/4 of a mile from the airport on a hot day yeasterday and the air began to get warmer inside the car, I turned it to LO and it did not help. I rolled down the window and heard a sound like clcking and gravel in a pot, I made it to the airport popped the hood and all fluid levels were ok but I could smell an odd odor. Could this be the air conditioning motor gone bad??? Also all gauges were ok no dummy lights on the dash and no change in engine temp, I am wondering if I can make it to the dealer when I get back today???

Possibly a bearing in the a/c compressor or pulley

Thanks I am hoping if I turn off the climate control panel when I get back that I will not have a problem driving to the dealership.

If that's what it is you should be OK if you leave the climate control off

Also double check that the serpentine belt is not loose. Good luck.

Default Replacing 1.8T serpentine belt.

My 03 A4 1.8T has 80k miles. I'm replacing the serpentine belt using the Bentley CD manual.
I have the correct Continental belt. I locked the tensioner in the slack postion but it does not appear to give enough slack to remove the belt.
Can I remove the tensioner (appears 3 bolts hold it on the block) to free up the belt?
Appreciate any other tips to replace the belt. The manual makes it look so easy!
TIA
