Default Is it ok to do this?

I got my exhaust manifold seperated from the head, but only enough to slide the gasket in there. Is it ok to split the gasket where the white tag is?

It would make it alot easier to get into place. I figured it would be ok because it's not a sealing surface, but i'd just like to make sure.

Default Yes, in fact there is something in the Head workshop about that.

I think it lines up better when gasket matching if you cut it.

Default I did this when rebuilding my motor, when the engine was out and on the stand

it was very clear that if they are left compelete that they will be off somewhat, it's something you have to see to understand, one would be centered over the exhaust port while the other two were slightly off, even trying to push them down on the studs you can see that they don't fit perfectly when in-tact.
