2.7T Engine differences??
I'm new to the 2.7T, so i would like to find out what are the actual differences between the 2.7T motors fitted to the A6, S4 and RS4. Eg.- internals, heads, turbos, management, harness, etc.
I'm looking to buy an A6 with possible engine damage.
I'm definitely modifying it, so i'm looking at the following options.
A. Fix the stock motor (if fixable), and go for bigger turbos + Chip+Exhaust, etc.
B. S4 engine
C RS4 Engine.
Also, how strong is the Tiptronic gearbox, what HP levels can sustain.
Any input is highly appreciated.
Cheers
S4 and A6 motors are more similar, though most tiptronic A6 motors have SAI, so just something to be aware of
if it has engine damage, probably better to upgrade the turbos and rebuild the engine - some guys have done quite well with those motors in the A6/allroad platform
tiptronic gearbox, stock, is probably good for chipped levels on stock turbos
if you upgrade your turbos, you will probably have to upgrade the transmission eventually
Thanks a lot for all info.
I was reading trough - "Audi_S4_engine_english" pdf. - http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/A...h.pdf
And i was wandering what do they mean by - " A tuning protective device prevents
the S4 engine control unit being
installed in the A6!"
What stops me from using a S4 ECU, apart from the immo coding?
Aslo, would A6 chipped ECU, have the same or better performance results then stock S4 ecu?

as for the comparison, it just depends on how aggressively the tuner tunes the ECU
