Default Transmission shudder when coming to a stop

I wanted to open a new thread for the issue described here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=19

When I come to a stop the transmission shudders, or 'skips a beat', or something like that...

I had a technician drive it today and he agrees that something is not right.

Am going to make an appointment next week and will keep you posted.

The car is brand new, problem started just before a long weekend at 350 miles, I'm up to 1,000 miles now and if anything it's getting worse.

Has anyone else had this issue?

We all do!
It's the transmission shifting into 1st gear - does seem to smooth out a bit with mileage.
Actually, many cars do this same thing. My bimmer in manual shift mode (and sometimes even in auto mode) the transmission will stay in second when stopped and avoids the low speed sometimes clunky downshift to first. The Audi however, always downshifts to first!

I had the same issue in the beginning. It's much better now and I have 700 miles on it.

Thanks for the info everyone. While I've had other cars (non-audi) in the past which did a similar shift right before stopping, it was a much smoother (normal feeling) shift. I'm experiencing something quite different, and the technician agreed. I'm up over 1,000 miles and it has not gone away We'll see if they are able to do anything once I bring it in.

Would love some more opinions as to whether anyone else has this issue, but doesn't feel that it's really a problem, and/or it went away entirely after some time.

Thanks again!

John1r,

Did the technician happen to check the rotors? I'm getting a tiny shudder once I come to a complete stop and I'm thinking based on Fitz's thread that it could be bad rotors.

So far I've only done a test drive with the technician, I haven't brought it in yet. But I will suggest it to him.

Also, I should clarify that it's not really a 'shudder', which might imply a break issue, but more of a harsh shift as it goes from 2nd to 1st right before stopping (or at least that's what it feels like it's doing).

I posted on the other thread about this as well. I was skeptical about this 'smoothing out' with mileage, but indeed around 1000 miles, it did go away. Hang in there.

I recently pick up my Q5 prestige with s-line package, and this transmission shudder and launch forward right as I stop is driving my insane. Went into the dealer yesterday and the sales person and mechanics all acknoleged the problem but said that really there is nothing they can do about. They told me drive it on the highway and if it doesn't stop my next week they would have a audi specialist look at it. I love the car, but this transmission glitch is so profound that I am really disappointed.

My Q5 and A6 does not shift smoothly from 1st to 2nd or the other way around, some Audis are like that, yours might be worst.

Am bringing mine in Friday, I hope they are able to do something...

The 'launch forward' is indeed a problem as well.
