01 A4 intake problem

i just installed an intake on my 01 1.8t, the check engine light came on, and u can smell the gas burning...i have no idea whas going on, but the light wont go away for some stupid reason...could n e one help me out?...does anyone have a diagnostic i can maybe use to see wtf is going on, and why that light is there?....thanx guys...

did you remember to plug the MAF in? that might account for the CEL. As for the smell...

Does is smell like burning oil, or like Exhaust?

yah, i made sure to put the MAF back in...whats funny is the first time i started the car, the light didnt come on, but after the second time, it did...and its been on, since then.

i can smell gas from the exhaust, somethings just not right...plus im only getting about 11.9mpg compared to 19mpg on normal driving conditions....

WOW... sounds like you are running extremely rich.

what Intake set up did you put on? did you change you BPV for a BOV? did you remember to connect the BPV? Did you put the MAF back in with the airflow the right way?

Get the codes read, if you haven't already.
